Full description and what we offer
Atmosphere Mountainworks cuts, sews, and prints every piece of gear at their downtown Laramie storefront. The operation started with a simple philosophy: make sustainable, one-of-a-kind outdoor gear by hand and keep it local.
Instead of chasing bulk fabric orders, Atmosphere uses end rolls—the leftover bolts that are too small for mass manufacturers to touch. These premium materials are perfect for custom batches and help the shop stay in its small Historic Downtown location without bloated overhead.
Here's where it gets interesting: nothing gets wasted. Medium scraps become their signature Ditty Bags (starting at $9). Tiny fabric bits are repurposed as filling for dog beds. Even the color choices reflect this ethos—each seamstress picks the color combinations while stitching, so no two bags ever come out identical.
"The colors on each bag are chosen by the seamstress while they are sewing. So, in a single batch of bags no two products ever come out with the same color scheme."
Atmosphere is run by Lindsay (co-owner, main fabric cutter, born and raised in Laramie) and Jeff (co-owner, spreadsheet and logistics). The sewing crew includes Hillery (Master of the Stitch), Mary (Master Seamster), Mare (Seamster), and Jenna (Seamster & Floor Fairy). The shop mascot is Chainsaw, a 10-pound Chihuahua who can keep up on any hike.
Every team member is rooted in Laramie's outdoor culture. They hike the Snowy Range, bike downtown trails, play in the local music scene, and fish. The shop reflects their values: quality over quantity, community over profit, and sustainability as non-negotiable.
Because Atmosphere works in small batches, inventory constantly rotates. This isn't a bug—it's the feature. You're guaranteed to get something no one else is carrying. If you want a specific bag that's sold out, they maintain an Archive of Past Bags showing designs that found their trail companions.
Visit in person for full selection. Their online shop shows availability, but the in-store collection is where the magic happens. Colors and combos change constantly.

Lindsay and Jeff deliberately keep Atmosphere small. It's not a scaling operation. They're not trying to become a national brand. The whole point is being in downtown Laramie, supporting the local community, keeping overhead low, and making sure every bag is crafted with actual care by a real person. That's the business model. That's the commitment.
