Blalock Gun Restoration

Blalock Gun Restoration specializes in bringing damaged and worn rifles and shotguns back to life. The work focuses on two core processes: rebluing metal barrels and receivers and refinishing wood stocks and forends. Results range from solid restoration to near-factory appearance.

The operation is run by Dr. John Blalock Jr., a retired general surgeon who practiced at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham for over 35 years. After retirement, he applied his precision and attention to detail to firearm restoration—and customers notice the difference.

Stock refinishing includes chemical and manual stripping of all finishes, hand-sanding to desired smoothness, and multiple coats applied for high gloss or semi-gloss finish.

Barrel rebluing involves chemical and manual removal of old bluing and rust, followed by multiple coats of bluing and curing.
