Hobbs Island Shooting Range hosts the Concealed Carry: Street Encounter Skills and Tactics course, taught by FPF Training. This isn't a marksmanship class—it's training for the full scope of civilian self-defense.
If you carry a concealed pistol but recognize there's more to personal safety than trigger time, this course is built for you. Students must already have formal training in safety, marksmanship, and drawing from concealment before enrolling.
The course uses an iterative approach, stacking skills on top of each other:
- •Stopping Bleeding — Medical trauma response when seconds matter
- •Pepper Spray & Less-Lethal Options — When force other than a firearm makes sense
- •Street Encounter Skills — De-escalation, de-selection, managing contacts before they become conflicts
- •Legal Preparation — How to interact with law enforcement after an incident
- •Deadly Force Decisions — The live-fire portion focuses on when and where, not just technique
Scenario-based drills reinforce decision-making under realistic conditions.

Seasonal Hours: - June 1 – Sept 30: Mon-Sat 8 AM–6 PM, Sun 12 PM–5 PM - Oct 1 – May 31: Wed-Sat 8 AM–4:30 PM, Sun-Tue 12 PM–4:30 PM - Range goes cold 15 minutes before closing
The emphasis is when and where to apply deadly force rather than shooting skills alone.
