Conecuh Shooting Range

Conecuh Shooting Range sits in the heart of Alabama's Conecuh National Forest, operated jointly by the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries and the U.S. Forest Service. It's a no-frills public facility designed for practicing rifle and shotgun marksmanship.

• •Rifle Range: 100-yard distance with designated concrete shooting stations. All fire is directed into a stabilized embankment at paper or metal targets. Stationary targets only on the rifle line.

• •Shotgun Area: Small concrete pad on the south side dedicated to clay target shooting. Shotguns with No. 4 shot or smaller only on the clay area.

• •Accessibility: All ranges feature concrete walkways and wheelchair-accessible design—uncommon for public ranges.

Alabama residents ages 16-64 need a valid hunting, heritage, fishing, or WMA license. Nonresidents need a WMA or non-resident hunting license (age 16+).

• •What's Allowed:
• •Any legal firearm and ammunition (no armor-piercing or tracer rounds)
• •Self-healing and metal auto-reset targets
• •One shooter per designated station

• •What's Not:
• •Nighttime shooting (daylight hours only, except by permit)
• •Alcoholic beverages
• •Anyone downrange while firing
• •Firing across the embankment or outside designated areas

• •From Andalusia: Take AL 29 west 20 miles to County Road 11, left 6 miles to County Road 4, right to the range entrance (about 1/2 mile).

• •From Brewton: Take AL 29 north to County Road 4, turn right 11 miles. Range on right.
