Free, state-maintained ranges are becoming harder to find. Coosa WMA fills that gap for central Alabama shooters. It's open to the public (with a valid license), maintained by professionals, and designed with both safety and access in mind—including wheelchair-accessible parking, which isn't standard at many ranges.
