Triple Nickel Shooters operates the American Legion Junior Shooting Sports Program through Matthew Blount Post 555in Pelham, Alabama. This is a youth-focused shooting program that emphasizes safety education, proper marksmanship fundamentals, and competitive air rifle shooting.
The Triple Nickel program is structured as a three-part system:
All participants shoot .177 caliber air rifles, which provides a consistent, safe platform for learning and competition.
Both males and females can join through Legion sponsorship. The program specifically encourages disabled youth to participate, as competitive air rifle shooting creates an equal playing field where all competitors can compete fairly regardless of physical ability.
The program has grown to as many as 11 active shooters across all skill categories. Competitive achievements include:
2018: Won the American Legion Alabama Commander's Cup 2019: Three team members qualified to shoot at the Junior Olympics 2021: Won the American Legion Commander's Cup for the second consecutive time

Post 555 is a 501(c)(19) and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization chartered in September 2014 and now with 215 active members. The Post runs multiple youth programs beyond shooting, including Boys State, Girls State, American Legion Baseball, Oratorical Scholarship Competition, and serves as charter sponsor of BSA Troop 404.
