Melissa started She's a Pistol in 2015 after her mom wanted to own a handgun. As a federal law enforcement training coordinator, Melissa knew exactly how to teach—so she did. Word of mouth and client recommendations have driven steady growth ever since.
What They Teach: - Handgun fundamentals and safety - Women-focused instruction - Family classes (teens and young shooters welcome) - Confidence-building courses
Melissa recently retired from federal law enforcement after 27 years. Her sister Katy joined in 2021 to handle increased demand. Annie (Melissa's daughter, a shooter since age 10) assists with teen and youth classes.
They explicitly focus on a supportive, fun environment—not the typical gun range vibe. Built for people new to shooting who want instruction from someone who knows law enforcement training standards.
