Full description and what we offer

Carnivore Tactical makes cutlery that has to work. Located in Wasilla, this is a small shop focused on knives that handle real use—hunting, kitchen work, field processing—without making excuses about durability or performance.

The founder started during COVID with a simple frustration: hunting meant carrying two or three knives because no single blade did everything needed. That led to learning the craft from the ground up—research, failure, iteration—until the knives got good enough to sell. What started as personal necessity became a business built on the same principle: knives for hard use.

Custom knives in several lines: - Hunting and field dressing knives - Kitchen and chef knives - Fillet knives for processing game - Hatchets and cleavers

Every knife is built with Alaska's environment in mind. That means materials chosen for durability, not looks alone.

Blade Steel Options: - 80CrV2 — High-carbon tool steel with chromium and vanadium. Tough, holds an edge, excellent for hunting knives and tactical work - CPM MagnaCut — Stainless option designed specifically for knives. High toughness, easy to sharpen, excellent corrosion resistance

  • •Handle Materials include:
  • •G10, carbon fiber (single and woven)
  • •Stabilized hardwoods (Turkish walnut, curly maple, koa, cocobolo)
  • •Stabilized bone and mammoth tusk
  • •Micarta
  • •Big horn ram horn

Handles use mechanical connections via carbon fiber or G10 pins, built to last through hard field use.

  • •Heat Treating — They handle the thermal processing for stainless, high carbon, Damascus, and san mai blades using top-of-the-line electric kilns and liquid nitrogen when needed for exact hardness specs.

Heat Treat Pricing (as of last update): - Blades under 20": $25 each (1-4), $4 per blade for 5+ orders - 20"-29": $54 each - 30"-40": $70 each

  • •Cerakote Finishing — Ceramic protective coating in three tiers (basic to advanced), perfect for protecting firearms and knives against Alaska's harsh conditions. Services coming soon.

They provide detailed care guides because a good knife needs proper upkeep. High carbon steel requires hand washing, immediate drying, and periodic oiling—no dishwasher, no soaking. In return, it stays sharper longer and costs less than stainless. It will develop a patina over time; that's normal, not a defect.
