Copacetic Defense Training

Copacetic Defense Training (CDT) teaches Alaska's Department of Public Safety-approved concealed carry course, but they'll tell you upfront: take the class for the training. The permit is just a side benefit.

The course is taught by NRA-certified instructors as required by Alaska state statute. The syllabus covers motives and methods, safe gun handling, self-defense principles, staying prepared, physical handling, legal issues, handgun storage, handgun cleaning, and the 10 commandments of concealed carry.

If you compared a tactical handgun course syllabus with what CDT teaches, you'd find very little difference.

The training is designed for everyone—from complete beginners to experienced shooters. Law enforcement, military, active-duty service members, and veterans regularly take the course.

CDT provides the concealed carry permit application. They'll refer you to outlets for electronic fingerprints and passport photos, then you take everything to the Alaska Department of Public Safety.
