Crossbow Ed delivers state-approved crossbow safety education for Alaska residents and non-residents through an ICEP-delegated provider model. The course meets mandatory education requirements set by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
Alaska residents born on or after January 1, 1986 must complete an ADF&G-approved crossbow education course to hunt big game with a crossbow. Your certification card must be carried in the field.
Non-residents born on or after January 1, 1986 also need this certification to hunt crossbows in Alaska.
Important: Crossbows are not considered legal archery equipment in Alaska—they require separate certification from regular bow hunting.
The curriculum includes:
Instructional content uses live-action, high-definition videos featuring professional educators (who are also professional actors), entertaining storylines, and realistic hunting scenarios.

After passing the online course: - Field Day Qualifier Certificate (immediate): Proof you completed the online portion; required to attend Field Day. Expires 365 days after course completion.
After completing Field Day: - Alaska Crossbow Education Certificate (arrives in 2-3 weeks): Your permanent proof of full certification. This is what you carry when hunting.
