Full description and what we offer
Parker Guide Service operates Alaska Boat Hunts, a yacht-based hunting operation specializing in guided brown bear hunts throughout Southeast Alaska. The entire operation runs from the Alaskan Harvest, an 80-foot luxury yacht that serves as your floating lodge, kitchen, and base camp combined.
All hunts take place in Southeast Alaska's highest-density brown bear territory:
These three islands hold some of the world's densest populations of trophy-class coastal brown bears. Parker Guide Service operates under an Authorized Special Use Permit with the Tongass National U.S. Forest Service—there's no draw lottery required. All hunting allocations are held by the guide service.
Each morning, you'll load into a 16-foot aluminum boat and run to hunting areas accessible only by water. By evening, you're back aboard the Alaskan Harvest for gourmet meals and comfortable cabin accommodations.
Average bear size in this region: 8.5 to 9.5 feet. These are genuine trophy-class animals, and you'll see significantly more bears than most hunts allow. The typical experience includes spotting 20+ different bears; many seasons yield 40-50+ sightings.
| Season | Dates | Bear Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Spring | April 24 – May 26 | Fresh from hibernation, prime boars |
| Fall | Sept. 15 – Oct. 6 | Fattening for winter, aggressive feeding |
The hunt price covers lodging, meals, guides, and yacht access. You'll pay separately for:

Parker Guide Service maintains allocated permits with the USFS and is USDA compliant. The operation is structured as an equal opportunity employer with no discrimination. The company holds lifetime memberships and active support for:
Operations run year-round with specialized expertise in Southeast Alaska's complex marine hunting environment. Hunts begin from Petersburg, Juneau, or Sitka airports, with seaplane transport directly to the yacht.
