Full description and what we offer

RRR Firearms Instruction specializes in Alaska concealed handgun permit courses and defensive pistol training. Their core offering is a 12-hour certification class that satisfies Alaska's legal requirements while going beyond the basics.

The Alaska Concealed Handgun Permit Course runs 1.5 days (Friday 6–10 PM and Saturday 8 AM–4 PM). Rather than just teaching marksmanship, instruction covers:

  • •Gun handling safety and secure storage
  • •Mental preparation and situational awareness
  • •Psychological and physiological reactions to critical incidents
  • •Home security, emergency plans, and safe room setup
  • •Pistol selection for self-defense
  • •Firearms law presented by an attorney (Castle doctrine, use of lethal force)
  • •Legal and emotional aftermath of defensive shooting
  • •Holster selection and concealed carry options
  • •What to do and say (and not say) after an incident
  • •Range qualification: 7 out of 10 shots at 7 yards, then 6 out of 10 at 15 yards with a silhouette target.

Students must already be proficient with handguns—this isn't a beginner's course. You need to load, unload, and shoot a 12" group at 7 yards before attending.
