A3 Trophy Hunts

A3 Trophy Hunts operates on a simple principle: the outfitter that spends the most days in the field before the season wins. Matt Schimberg, Jay Lopeman, and Chad Rhoton have built a scouting program that outworks every competitor. They scout 25+ days per month from June through hunt season, learning elk rut patterns, locating giant bucks, and developing specific strategies for harvesting top-end animals.

The guides aren't weekend warriors. They're born-and-raised Arizona specialists who've hunted their units since childhood. They won't sub your hunt out, and they won't pressure you to kill average bucks. Their reference list spans decades—past clients consistently report no-nonsense effort from opening morning through the final day.

A3 specializes in premium Arizona mule deer. Their portfolio includes:

• •Arizona Strip/Kaibab hunts (Units 13A, 13B): Clients regularly harvest bucks 200"+, with recent successes including a 239" buck and multiple 226"+, 195"+ animals

How they operate: You won't be back at camp at midday. Hunts run sunup to sundown across challenging terrain. The crew doesn't give up—recent hunts took until day 6 before success, but all three hunters killed bucks over 200".

A3 hunts Arizona statewide with guides who are experts in their specific units. Their scouting identifies top bulls each year before the season opens. A3 holds exclusive access to 65,000 acres across Units 9 and 10 (30,000+ acres per unit). This is the only private land hunt available in Unit 9. The ranch attracts massive public-ground elk during hunting pressure and serves as a historic rutting ground. Clients hunt mature, high-scoring bulls in zero-pressure conditions. Recent harvests include bulls up to 414" and multiple 380"+.
