Full description and what we offer

ACT Self-Defense operates on a fundamental fact: roughly 90% of self-defense is risk awareness. Their classes don't just teach you how to throw a punch—they teach you how predators choose targets, what they're afraid of, and how to make yourself an unappealing victim before violence ever starts.

Their curriculum covers three interconnected areas:

  • Risk awareness training - Understanding how social and asocial predators operate
  • De-escalation skills - Learning what criminals fear and how to leverage that to stop situations from turning physical
  • Physical self-defense techniques - Practical moves drawn from multiple martial arts, chosen specifically for effectiveness against larger attackers

Women's Self-Defense Classes

Research shows women who take self-defense classes are less likely to be targeted in the first place, and significantly more likely to escape if they are targeted. Their women's classes acknowledge the different threat profiles women face.

Men's Self-Defense Classes

These focus on how to deter predators, de-escalate potential physical conflicts, and physically defend yourself if it comes to that.

Private Group Classes

ACT brings instruction to your location with flexible pricing—either group rates or individual participant costs. This works for corporate teams, community organizations, or any group wanting on-site training.

"There will always be criminals and bullies. The world would be a less violent place if everyone had the benefit of a quality education in risk awareness, verbal self-defense, and basic physical self-defense."

Taking a self-defense class builds confidence in your ability to detect assault risk and escape dangerous situations. It develops what instructors call a "warrior spirit"—not aggression, but mental preparation and the knowledge that you can handle conflict if it comes to you.

ACT Self-Defense operates across Arizona and Arizona, making classes accessible to shooters and community members throughout the region.
