Full description and what we offer
Metal Madness Shooting Sports Association (MMSSA) runs a nationwide network of rimfire speed shooting competitions and clubs. The sport itself is simple: shoot .22 caliber firearms at steel targets, compete on accuracy and speed, and have fun doing it. No fancy gear required—most .22 rifles work fine.
Events run at affiliated ranges across Arizona and the country. Each match costs $10-20 depending on location and membership status. You shoot multiple stages, each shot 3 times, and they keep your best string for scoring. Competitors shoot at their own pace—it's relaxed but competitive.
"Metal Madness is our family's favorite weekend activity. It's safe, fun, and gets everyone cheering for each other." — The Stewart Family
Members get: - Match scores published on the MMSSA website - Discounts on MMSSA merchandise (Tippmann Arms rifles, Elftmann triggers, branded apparel) - Performance tracking across events - Digital membership card - Multi-year options available
MMSSA takes safety seriously. Firearms are only loaded when shooters are on the firing line. Between stages, guns are unloaded, flagged with a bright plastic indicator, and pointed downrange. No handling until it's your turn—enforced on every match.

This isn't traditional benchrest or precision rifle competition. Metal Madness emphasizes the community side—multigenerational families shoot together, new shooters get genuine encouragement, and the atmosphere stays supportive even when scoring matters. The ping of hitting steel targets, affordable entry cost, and no special equipment requirements have built a surprisingly dedicated following.
