Own Artifex Firearms Training?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Artifex Firearms Training started in 2012 when a British Special Forces veteran decided civilian shooters deserved the same quality instruction as military and law enforcement. That philosophy hasn't changed. Today, Artifex trains everyone from first-time shooters to FBI HRT teams, with classes running year-round across Orange County and San Diego.
They don't mess around with generic line-shooting classes. Every course is designed around real-world applications:
Pistol Training - Defensive Pistol (movement, multiple targets, transitions) - Performance Pistol (pistol-mounted optics optimization) - Red Dot Pistol Fundamentals (transition from iron sights) - Defensive Mindset Pistol 1.0 & 2.0 (decision-making under stress) - Low Light Pistol (ambient lighting conditions) - Vehicle Defensive Pistol (shooting from/around vehicles) - Beginner Handgun (progressive fundamentals)
Rifle & Carbine Programs - Foundational Rifle Class (building from basics to CQB) - Defensive Carbine (barricades, movement, multiple arrays) - Precision Rifle Level 2 (partnered with Change of Behavior—cover zero, scope theory, MOA vs MIL, wind calls, ballistic apps, positional shooting) - All Day Rifle/Pistol Evolutions (accelerator drill, El Prez, 1-5 drill, ORT)
Shotgun & Specialized - Level 2 Defensive Shotgun (ammo selection, holds, semi vs pump, recoil management, patterning) - T.E.C.C. (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care—full day certification for treating trauma in high-threat environments) - Tactical Competition Prep (physical conditioning for competition shooting)
"This is Level 2 class with the pre-requisite of having attended the Level 1 class (with exceptions if you have attended a recent Precision Rifle fundamentals-style class)." — From their precision rifle offering
Artifex is an OCSD-approved CCW training provider and has delivered countless high-quality CCW initial and renewal classes. They understand local requirements and teach to them.

Artifex delivers what military and law enforcement get: progressive skill development, high round counts (250-600 per class), instructors with operational experience, and courses that adapt to real threats. They've trained major California City, County, and Federal SWAT teams—including FBI HRT. That pedigree shows in their curriculum design. Classes move from fundamentals to complexity, paper to steel, line to movement, single target to arrays. They also aren't shy about incorporating training innovations like moving target systems and specialized venues (vehicle shooting stations, drywall patterning for shotguns).
