Full description and what we offer
ASP Firearm Training is an SB2-compliant training school authorized to teach California Carry Concealed Weapon courses. They run programs throughout the Bay Area and surrounding counties—covering Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Merced, San Benito, Monterey, San Mateo, and Riverside counties, plus training for multiple police departments including San Jose, Fremont, Los Altos, Palo Alto, and Sunnyvale.
Their CCW initial course is $412 all-in—no surprises, no hidden range fees or target charges. The class splits into two dates: a 12-hour Zoom lecture and a 4-hour range day on the third Saturday of the same month (dates can't be separated or swapped).
The curriculum covers: - General firearm safety and storage - Firearm transportation - Mental health considerations - Criminal vs. civil liability - Unjustifiable circumstances - Balancing speed and accuracy
"Don't worry about falling asleep; our class is so packed with breaks, songs, and stories, you'll feel like you're on a game show!"
Required equipment: - 100-200 rounds per approved handgun - OWB holster (outside-waistband—they require this before IWB work) - IWB or concealment holster - Magazine carrier(s) or speed loaders - Full wrap-around eye protection - Ball cap or brim cap - Long pants, closed-toe shoes only - Light zippered jacket
Recommended: - Ankle-support footwear - Cargo/BDU pants with bellows pockets - At least one gallon of water (none available on-site)
Two requirements must be met first: 1. Pass your issuing agency's interview 2. Pass psychological evaluation
Timing matters—your training dates must align with what your agency approved. ASP runs on a skeleton crew with strict policies: no refunds, no transfers, no cancellations, no date changes for any reason. Contact them within 24 hours if you need to reschedule.
If you want to build shooting confidence, they recommend taking their Level 1 Pistol course at least a month before your CCW class.
Multiple session pairs throughout 2025-2026 (lecture dates vary 8:00-8:30 AM starts).
Beyond CCW, they offer refresher courses, modifications, shotgun training, and non-resident permits for Florida, Utah, and Arizona.
