Cal Guns Training exists because Shawn saw a gap: too many people left firearms classes feeling confused or worse, frightened. After 8 years in law enforcement and over 15 years teaching, he built something different—instruction rooted in calm, clarity, and compassion.
- •NRA Basic Handgun & Rifle — Foundational safety and operation
- •CCW Certification — Ventura and Los Angeles County courses
- •Private Training — One-on-one or group sessions, any skill level
- •DOJ Instructor Certification — Train-the-trainer pathway
All ages and experience levels welcome. First-timers, families, and seniors specifically encouraged.
- •Patient Instruction, Not Intimidation. Learning happens when you feel safe. Shawn teaches with reassurance, not pressure.
- •Real-World Skills. Practical home defense and personal safety training—not range theory alone.
- •Flexible Scheduling. Based in Ventura County but serves all of Southern California. Private sessions fit your life, not the other way around.
