DefenseSHOT handles Concealed Carry Weapons permit instruction for Sacramento, El Dorado, and Placer Counties, plus multi-state CCW classes. John Daniels, head instructor and owner, spent 17 years as a peace officer. He's NRA and California DOJ certified, an NRA range safety officer, and Utah BCI certified CCW instructor. His background as both a driving instructor and volunteer youth pastor shapes his teaching approach—patient, clear explanations without the attitude.

He's trained over 600 brand new shooters (more than half women) to CCW qualification level in a single session. He's also salvaged careers for law enforcement officers who struggled with firearms qualifications after academy training.
