01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
SC2 Outdoors handles guided hunts for all three California elk species: Rocky Mountain elk, Roosevelt elk, and Tule elk (the only state where you can hunt them). Based in Cottonwood, they operate out of four managed properties across Northern California.
California gives hunters some of the best elk hunting of any western state—but tags are the hard part. Unlike Colorado, Idaho, or Montana, California doesn't offer over-the-counter tags or the sheer volume of 380+ bulls that Arizona, Nevada, and Utah produce. What you get instead: the potential for monster bulls and one-of-a-kind hunts.
Most California elk hunting means drawing a tag through the state's Big Game drawing system. Some private ranch tags become available periodically. SC2 Outdoors specializes in guiding hunters who've already drawn their tags, whether through the state draw or private land access.
Rocky Mountain Elk (Northeastern California) - Zone 305: Bull hunts - Zone 409: Either-sex (Apprentice Hunt) - Zone 411: Archery either-sex
Roosevelt Elk (Marble Mountains/Siskiyou) - Zone 302: Marble Mountain Bull - Zone 408: Either-sex (Apprentice Hunt) - Zone 300: Siskiyou Bull
Their operations span four private ranches: Rickert Ranch, Willow Creek Ranch, Pentacola Ranch, and Blodgett Ranch.
Public land guiding available if you've drawn a tag—contact them directly for details on species and zones.
SC2 Outdoors also guides hunts for blacktail deer, mule deer, pronghorn, black bear, wild pig, and wild turkey. They run king salmon fishing trips as well.
