Full description and what we offer
Skyrose Ranch operates guided hunts on their property near San Miguel, focusing on Tule Elk—California's native subspecies and one of North America's most sought-after big game animals. The ranch hosts a resident herd managed under California's PLM program, allowing them to offer a limited number of hunts annually.
Tule Elk are the smallest elk subspecies, but bulls become highly aggressive during the rut. They're part of both the Super Slam and North American 29 lists—making them essential for hunters completing those prestigious achievement lists. The population crashed to fewer than 30 animals in the 1870s due to uncontrolled hunting, but numbers have recovered significantly.
Trophy Bull Hunts target Boone & Crockett caliber bulls (285+) using spot-and-stalk methods to ensure clean kills. Five days with meals, lodging, and one wild pig included.
Management Bull Hunts focus on culling inferior bulls—essential herd management and a more affordable option if you're completing the North American 29 without aiming for record books. Four days with meals and lodging. $16,000
All hunts are rifle only. Archery elk hunting here is too challenging due to the sparse, sporadic nature of the herd.
Jared handles all Tule Elk hunts himself. The person you call is the person guiding you at the lodge—no middleman, no surprise guides.
