California Bowmen Hunters/State Archery Association (CBH/SAA) has been the voice of California archers and bowhunters since 1943. Operating as a statewide nonprofit, they're the organization that runs the tournaments, protects your rights at the Capitol, and connects you to archery clubs across the state.

CBH/SAA organizes and sanctions archery competitions across seven championship disciplines:

• •State Indoor Championship - 450-round competition at 20 yards with 40cm single-spot targets (five colors, 10 scoring rings). Youth 14 and under shoot 60cm targets.
• •State Field Championship - Traditional field archery format
• •State Broadhead Championship - Bowhunting-focused competition with 40+ yard marked targets
• •State Traditional Championship - Longbow and recurve competition
• •State Marked 3-D Championship - 3D animal targets with known yardage
• •State Unmarked 3-D Championship - Hunting-style 3D shooting
• •State Target (900) Championship - 900-round competition format

CBH/SAA sanctions dozens of local club shoots throughout California, running year-round from January through December. Their event calendar features:

• •January-February: State Indoor Championships (indoor marked), State Traditional Championships
• •February-March: 3D shoots (marked and unmarked), field competitions, novelty events
• •April-May: Spring and broadhead championships, national competitions
• •June-August: Summer tournaments, tradition shoots, night shoots
• •September-November: Fall flings, extreme shoots, harvest season events
• •December: Charity shoots (Toys for Tots), end-of-year competitions

Clubs hosting CBH/SAA events include Oranco Bowmen, Cherry Valley Bowhunters, Yahi Bowmen, San Francisco Archers, Santa Cruz Archers, Riverside Archers, Kings Mountain Archers, Briones Archers, Cougar Mountain Archers, and many others across all regions of California.

With representatives organized by region and CDFW territory, CBH/SAA provides a unified voice for California's archery community on hunting rights, public land access, and archery regulations.

CBH/SAA runs JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) programs that introduce young archers to competitive archery. Multiple State Indoor Championship divisions are dedicated to JOAD competitors, recognizing the next generation of California archers.

Archers can join CBH/SAA to participate in sanctioned tournaments, compete for state titles, access exclusive newsletters and resources, and support advocacy efforts. The organization encourages both lifelong competitive archers and newcomers to get involved with their regional legislative committee and local clubs.

CBH/SAA maintains a Hall of Fame honoring exceptional archers and bowhunters. State records are tracked across all championship disciplines and competition formats, recognizing outstanding achievements in competitive archery.
