H2K Defense is a veteran-owned firearms training company that operates the only outdoor tactical shooting range accessible to civilians in San Diego County. Previously available only to active military and law enforcement, the range sits on 40 acres of mountain terrain in Escondido, just 15 minutes off the California I-15 freeway.
The range itself rejects everything wrong with typical indoor facilities. No standing in one place. No artificial restrictions on firing speed. Instead: draw from duty or concealed holster, rapid fire at combat speed, move and shoot, engage multiple targets, shoot from inside vehicles while they're moving, and transition between rifles and pistols. Steel targets range from close quarters to 1,800 yards.
H2K is owned by three Obermeyers with serious credentials:
Most H2K instructors are firearm professionals from special operations combat units. This isn't corporate firearms instruction—it's veterans training civilians the way they trained for real.
H2K pioneered the first membership-based firearms curriculum modeled after martial arts belt progression. Instead of taking random classes without knowing where you stand, the system uses measurable standards:
Each belt represents specific skills and competencies. Progress is tracked, recorded, and certified. You get a clear roadmap instead of wandering through disconnected classes.
