South Bay Rod & Gun Club offers comprehensive Junior Rifle Training in Dulzura, California, developing safety and marksmanship skills for shooters of all ages. Located at their expansive 600+ acre facility in San Diego County, the club provides structured training using match-grade .22 caliber target rifles with aperture sights.
The Junior Rifle Training Program is designed as a foundational shooting discipline that can progress to the highest levels of NRA accomplishment, including Distinguished Expert in Smallbore Rifle. Participants learn through hands-on instruction at Range 3, beginning with bench-rest positions and advancing to prone, sitting, kneeling, and off-hand (standing) shooting techniques.
Core Skills Developed: - Safe rifle handling and NRA firearm safety rules - Five essential shooting elements: aiming, breath control, hold control, trigger control, and follow-through - Progressive marksmanship development with achievement-based medals and patches
Training sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month. Participants should arrive by 8:00 a.m., with training typically completing around 11:00 a.m. The club provides most equipment necessary, though shooters must bring their own eye protection (safety glasses).
Club Members: $10 for juniors (under 18), $15 for adults Non-Members: $25 for juniors, $45 for adults (includes range day-use fee)

Juniors under 18 years of age require parental/legal guardian authorization through the club's "Authorization for Minors Participation in Shooting Sports" form, which must be signed and presented at the training event.
