Full description and what we offer

L.A. Progressive Shooters, founded by Tom Nguyen, focuses on demystifying firearms through structured instruction. The operation runs out of Azusa in L.A. County and specializes in making gun training non-intimidating for shooters of all backgrounds and experience levels.

  • Pistol 101 is their flagship course ($250/person, 5-8 hours depending on format). It covers gun safety, how pistols function internally, and accurate shooting fundamentals. A newer 4-hour option ($175-250) is available with flexible scheduling at 8:15am or 12:30pm slots.
  • Pistol 102: Try Before You Buy ($250) lets students shoot 12 different 9mm semi-automatics—various brands, sizes, and actions—to figure out which gun fits them before making a purchase.
  • Pistol 201: Speed & Performance ($250) moves into defensive shooting skills: rapid fire accuracy, malfunction clearing, one-handed shooting, and timed drills under pressure.
  • Red Dot: Cheat Codes covers optic fundamentals—zeroing, finding the dot on draw, shooting at speed, target transitions, and handling dot occlusion.

All courses available as private instruction for up to 4 people during weekdays, starting at $300/person. CCW training offered in both 16-hour initial (classroom + live fire, split over 2-3 days) and 8-hour renewal formats. Family and friend discounts available.

"From being nervous with guns, to applying for Concealed Carry"—documented student transformation shows what regular coaching can achieve.

Students who master the Shooting Standards earn a LAPS patch as recognition. The operation has trained shooters across ages and abilities—from an 85-year-old widow building confidence with her Glock to a 67-year-old with mobility challenges mastering fundamentals.
