Full description and what we offer
Northwind Outfitters has spent decades mastering California's hunting and fishing opportunities. Led by Captain RJ Waldron, the operation runs guided expeditions across the state's premier waterfowl habitats and fishing grounds.
The Sacramento Valley's flooded rice fields come alive each fall. Northwind guides hunters through these iconic landscapes where pintails, teal, specklebelly geese, and mallards create what feels like nature's symphony. You'll see widgeons, shovelers, gadwalls, and geese against the California sun. $325 per hunter with expert guides who know exactly where the birds congregate.
San Francisco Bay and coastal waters hold Lesser and Greater Scaup, Surf Scoters, Canvasback, Buffleheads, and Goldeneyes. Hunts run from shore blinds or boats depending on conditions. $300 per angler for access to this specialized waterfowl experience.
Specklebelly and Snow geese flood the Pacific Flyway each season. Northwind's seasoned experts guide both small groups and larger parties. $375 per hunter for groups up to 8. Expect prime locations, expert tips, and authentic hunting in expansive California skies.
For hunters pursuing the North American Waterfowl Species slam—all 32 species—Northwind offers tailored hunts targeting elusive ducks. Northern Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal, Ringneck, Barrows Goldeneye, and others. The operation knows where each species shows up and when. Contact for custom pricing.
California's spring turkey season runs across hand-selected ranches with exclusive access. Choose archery or shotgun. Expert guides push success rates high. $600 per day for hunts targeting one turkey.
Just 40 minutes from downtown San Francisco, the Delta holds Striped Bass, Largemouth Bass, and Smallmouth Bass year-round. Northwind fishes it with fly rods, plugs, trolling, and live bait drifts. Light tackle fishing in one of the state's most sought-after natural environments. $325 per angler.
The FV Sundance departs Richmond Marina daily around 5:30am for summer saltwater adventures. Expect King Salmon, California Halibut, Striped Bass, Sharks, and Rockfish. Cooler temps, full coolers, and consistent action. $325 per angler year-round.
"I have fished on the Sundance with Captain RJ Waldron since 2018. I typically do about 10-15 trips a year. RJ always puts us on the fish whether they be salmon, halibut, stripers, rockfish or seabass." — Mike Schussel
Repeated clients book 10-15 trips annually. Guides work hard regardless of conditions. The operation donates to California Waterfowl and runs veterans outreach programs. Professional, friendly, dependable—that's the consistent feedback across a decade of testimonials.
