Mana Group Training is the official CCW training provider for the Orange County Sheriff's Department. They handle everything from initial certification through renewals and additional firearms qualifications—no guesswork about what the sheriff's office requires.
Initial Applicants (16 hours total) - 4 hours pre-learning + written test (online) - 8 hours Zoom instruction (two 4-hour sessions) - 4 hours on-range skills and live-fire qualification
Renewal Applicants (8 hours total) - Condensed format covering legal updates and refresher skills - Live-fire qualification on range
Additional Firearms - $50 per firearm qualification - No additional classroom time required - Separate certificate and OCSD application needed
Range fees not included (~$30 payable directly to range on qualification day). Course fees: $300 initial, $250 renewal, $50 per additional firearm.
Zoom sessions cover: - California penal codes and legal statutes - Use of force law and self-defense principles - Mental health and de-escalation tactics - Situational awareness and threat assessment - Safety protocols and post-incident procedures
On-range instruction focuses on: - Holster selection and carry method fitting - Draw stroke, stance, and grip fundamentals - Sight alignment and target confirmation - Trigger manipulation from concealment - Garment management for different carry styles

Passing score: 70% minimum. All hits must be in the silhouette. No time limit or malfunction test.
Must bring your actual carry holster (IWB or OWB preferred) to skills qualification. You'll need to have already dry-fired and fit-tested it. No soft leather, soft nylon, or Serpa holsters allowed.
Instructors walk you through the OCSD permit application, explain required documents, and provide live scan recommendations. Permit is good for 2 years; renew at least 120 days before expiration. OCSD application fees: $169 initial, $81 renewal.
California SB2 (effective Jan 1, 2024) increased training requirements. Training standards are subject to change and pricing may adjust accordingly.
