Own Unified Tactical: Firearms Training?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Unified Tactical Defense operates out of Lakewood, California with a straightforward mission: teach you how to safely handle firearms and protect what matters most. Sledge, the lead instructor, brought his special operations experience from the U.S. Army into civilian training after serving since 2000 in multiple combat roles. His philosophy is simple—being prepared makes the difference.
Classes are built for all experience levels—whether you just bought your first gun, have never fired one, or want to upgrade your defensive skills.
Sledge and his instructors hold multiple certifications:
"My team and I aim to teach you the proper way to handle firearms safely so you may lawfully and accurately protect yourself and those around you."
This isn't a range with instructors who show up for paychecks. These are people who've used these skills under actual pressure.
Class dates are subject to change, so check before showing up.

Unified Tactical Defense isn't selling comfort or ego stroking. They're teaching combat-tested techniques adapted for civilian self-defense. The difference between 'taking a gun class' and 'actually knowing what to do with a firearm' is significant—and that gap is what they close.
They also partner with local firearms retailers like Guerrilla Tactics Firearms in Whittier for ammunition and gun recommendations, creating a resource network for their students.
They focus on real problems: What happens when the situation escalates? How do you move tactically? Where should you position yourself? What's the difference between cover and concealment? These aren't academic questions—they're survival questions.
If you've bought a gun thinking "I probably should take a class," this is where to do it. If you've been shooting for years but want to learn defensive tactics from someone with actual combat background, same answer.
