Full description and what we offer
Basic Firearms Training specializes in Utah Concealed Firearms Permit (CFP) instruction for non-residents—a critical option for Californians who can't carry under California's CCW but need reciprocal coverage in other states.
California doesn't recognize any other state's CCW permits, so a Utah permit won't let you carry in California. But it does cover you in Nevada, Washington, and a growing list of other states. If you're unable to obtain a California CCW, Utah's non-resident permit is often the only practical alternative.
Utah also issues provisional permits for ages 18-20, valid until the holder's 21st birthday.
The Utah CFP course runs 4 to 5 hours as a standalone class and covers:
No written exam or shooting qualification required—the instructor must confirm you understand the material before signing your application.
Basic Firearms Training offers the Utah CFP three ways:
1. Standalone (4-5 hours, $120) 2. With California initial CCW (adds ~30-60 minutes to 16-hour course) 3. With California CCW renewal (adds ~30-60 minutes to 8-hour course)
Combining courses makes sense if you're pursuing both permits—shared material cuts down repetition.
