Auburn Trap Club started in a cow pasture off Auburn-Folsom Road in the late 1940s. When housing development forced a move, members pooled resources in 1949 to purchase nearly 25 acres on Lorenson Road off Highway 49. What began with a single donated trap and manual clay operation has grown into a modern facility hosting everything from recreational shooters to youth competition teams.
This is a private club, but you can shoot as a guest. The range operates with modern voice-call systems and hosts:
| Membership Type | Cost Per Round (25 shots) |
|---|---|
| Member | $8 |
| Non-member | $10 |
The club occupies 25 acres with multiple trap fields. They renovated the open-air spectator overhang (replacing wooden posts with steel), have a modern block clubhouse, and can accommodate events for 10-90+ people. For groups of 10+, call ahead to reserve a field. Corporate events need 3 months' notice.
"One of the first things I was told then was to never allow anyone on to the property without a warm greeting," recalls early club president Bob Swanson. "It was a very friendly place to be." That ethos still drives the club today.
Beyond recreation, Auburn Trap Club prioritizes firearms safety education and community contribution. They're a resource for Placer County and surrounding areas seeking a safe, professional environment to learn and practice shotgun sports.
