Location details and information
San Jose Zouaves Rifle Club hosts monthly XTC ("across the course") highpower rifle competitions at the 200-yard range within Santa Clara County Shooting Sports facility. The club conducts matches without pits, so target changes happen after each stage rather than using traditional pit operations.
The club offers four different courses of fire, all conducted simultaneously on the same firing line:
Shooters can select which course of fire when signing in. If the club runs multiple relays, you can shoot the same course again or choose a different one at no additional cost.
The club loans iron-sighted M1 Garands and California-compliant featureless AR-15s. Borrowers must use club-supplied ammunition. Personal rifle shooters can use any ammunition they choose.
Each stage begins with a 3-minute preparation period for position setup and dry-firing. Between stages, the firing line clears completely—all rifles grounded, unloaded, magazines removed, and safety flags installed—while target crew works downrange. After sighters, target crew applies pasters instead of changing targets. Zero rifle handling occurs when downrange crews are present.
Zouaves publishes all match scores on their website. While the club doesn't report scores to governing bodies, shooters can print results for CMP firearm purchase program submission as proof of competitive participation.
Matches run at Santa Clara County Shooting Sports facility on the 200-yard range. For specific rifle or caliber questions, contact the range office at (408) 463-0652.
