The Target Range

The Target Range opened its doors three decades ago and hasn't looked back. This Van Nuys fixture serves shooters from Burbank to Santa Monica to Calabasas—basically if you're in the greater Los Angeles area, they're your closest option for a serious range session.

Gun Rentals & Selection

Not sure what gun fits your hand or shooting style? Rent one first. Standard rentals run $10, premium options $20. The catch: you need a party of 2+ to rent. The good news: switch rentals without extra fees and figure out exactly what you want before buying.

They stock major brands—Glock, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Remington, Sig Sauer, NightHawk Custom, Springfield, Mossberg, Beretta, Kimber, and more. If it's not in stock, most firearms ship in 1-2 days.

The Range Itself

Air-conditioned and heated lanes. Open 5 days a week (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Lane rental:

Ear and eye protection included. When they're full, expect a one-hour time limit.

Safety Rules That Actually Matter

One shooter per lane minimum needs experience. Firearms stay unloaded when not shooting. No rapid fire, no holstering, no exposed lead rounds. Semi-jacketed soft or hollow point rounds are out. Brass cases only. No smoking, eating, or drinking on the line.

The range keeps ammunition tight: all rounds must be inspected and approved by a range officer before use.

Includes one hour of instruction, lane fee, gun rental, targets, hearing and eye protection. Ammunition costs extra.

Topics cover firearm safety and orientation, shooting fundamentals, maintenance and storage, requirements to own, and self-defense basics. Lessons work as gift experiences too.
