Mike Pope owns and operates Colorado Shooting & Tactical with credentials that back up the training. He spent over 25 years as a federal law enforcement firearms and tactics instructor, trained hundreds of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers, taught at the DEA Academy at Quantico, Virginia, and has provided instruction to US military units.

His certifications include NRA credentials (Law Enforcement Handgun, Tactical Shooting, Civilian Handgun, Home Firearms Safety), DEA-level instruction on pistol/revolver/tactical shotgun/M-4 rifles, FLETC certifications in firearms and active shooter response, and Viking Tactics live-fire and dynamic entry credentials.

• •Initial Concealed Handgun Course (8 hours | $200)
• •Meets Colorado state requirements for concealed carry permits
• •6.5 hours lecture + 1.5 hours live fire
• •Covers basic handgun safety, storage, shooting fundamentals, grip/stance/trigger control, Colorado and federal gun laws, concealment methods, drawing from concealed carry, and interactions with law enforcement
• •Live fire qualification: 50 rounds at 70% passing score
• •Written exam: 80% passing score required

• •Refresher Concealed Handgun Course (2 hours | $125)
• •Meets Colorado state requirements for permit renewal
• •1.5 hours lecture + 0.5 hours live fire
• •Review of safety, fundamentals, law updates, drawing from concealment, permit application
• •Same written and live fire qualification requirements as initial course

• •Covers sight alignment/picture, trigger control, stance, grip, recoil management, ready positions, drawing from holster and concealment

• •Flashlight with push-button switch recommended but not required

• •Security Team Handgun Class (4 hours | $500 per group, up to 10 people)
• •Conducted at private range in Conifer, CO
• •For shooters with concealed handgun permits and solid basic skills
• •Instruction in ready positions, drawing from concealment, tactical malfunction clearing, combat reloading, moving while shooting, use of cover, intro to combat shooting techniques and tactics, timed fire, tactical scenarios
• •Requires 200+ rounds per person

• •On-Site Tactical Evaluation (1-2 hours | $100)
• •Survey and assessment of your specific church or school
• •Evaluates security team size, locations, floor plan, skills, weapons, communication
• •Provides recommendations for response tactics and active shooter procedures
• •Must include security team director

• •Active Shooter Response Tactics Class (4 hours | $400 per group, up to 12 people)
• •Conducted at your church or school location
• •Hands-on training in room clearing, large room tactics, hallway procedures, team movement, threat neutralization, parking lot/vehicle scenarios
• •Inert weapons and chamber plugs provided—no live ammunition or magazines allowed

Most classes require: - Hearing protection (electronic preferred; loaners available) - Shooting glasses (ANSI Z87 rated; loaners available) - Strong-side hip or thigh holster with trigger guard coverage - Ammunition (quantity varies by course: 100-300 rounds) - Water and non-alcoholic beverages - Sunscreen
