Full description and what we offer
Mapu Hunting Lodge operates nearly 21,000 acres of free-range hunting property in Quehué, La Pampa province, Argentina. The lodge is family-owned and operated by father and daughter, built on a philosophy of personalized service and unforgettable hunts.
The signature hunt at Mapu is red stag during the rut—called "the roar"—which runs from early March through mid-April. During this window, stags vocalize constantly, creating what hunters describe as an unforgettable experience. The lodge's terrain and high concentration of hinds (female deer) attract stags from many miles beyond the property, concentrating animals and increasing encounter rates.
Beyond red stag, Mapu offers:
Hunts are custom-designed. Clients work with guides to choose species and hunting methods based on physical condition, preferences, and trophy goals.
Spot and stalk is the primary hunting style. Hunters are driven via 4×4 to different sections of the property, then continue on foot through La Pampa's varied terrain—Calden woods, brush, fire-breaks ("picadas"), and hills.
For bow hunters, the lodge has prepared tree stands and blinds specifically for compound and traditional archery. Rifle hunters use the same infrastructure when conditions warrant hunting from stands rather than stalking.
Hunts run twice daily:
Accommodates up to six guests at a time. Capacity is intentionally limited to ensure personalized attention. The lodge provides all meals, lodging, and daily hunting. Standard packages are five days of hunting following arrival at Santa Rosa Airport (one-hour drive to lodge).
Travel Logistics: Hunters fly to Buenos Aires (Ezeiza International Airport), then domestic flight to Santa Rosa, Argentina. Lodge staff meet guests and provide van transport. Mapu coordinates with travel agencies on international and domestic flight arrangements.
Experienced hunting guides have hunted multiple species across Argentina. They know the terrain intimately, understand local climate patterns, and are familiar with animal behavior across the property. Client success is their priority—they'll do everything possible to ensure positive outcomes.
Guests can bring their own rifles and shotguns to Argentina with proper paperwork. Mapu provides all necessary customs documentation, and staff will clear firearms through customs at Ezeiza International Airport (additional service charge applies).
If flying with firearms is impractical, the lodge has rifles and shotguns available for rent. Contact for specific makes and models.
Big game hunting licenses are obtained at the lodge upon arrival. License fees vary yearly as set by Argentina's government.
