Colorado's Premier PRS Match Host
Pikes Peak Precision runs field-style precision rifle matches that actually test shooters instead of just letting them poke holes downrange. They host both 1-day and 2-day competitions across Colorado, sanctioned under PRS (Precision Rifle Series) and NRL formats.
Match Locations
Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex 7790 Route 1 Fort Carson, CO 80913 (All matches held on Range 1)
Gypsy Ranch Larkspur, CO 80118 (40 mins south of Denver, 30 mins north of Colorado Springs)
What You'll Actually Shoot
Matches feature unique courses of fire with 8-12 stages each. You're not shooting from a bench—these are practical/tactical scenarios with barricades, positional changes, and real-world challenges.

- •Fresh Face Frenzy (April) - Beginner-focused PRS Regional with eased course difficulty
- •Holy Union Hoedown (May) - 10 stages at Gypsy Ranch, WyCO and PRS Regional points
- •Battle of Rattlesnake Butte (June) - 2-day match in the high bluffs near Larkspur
- •Broadfoot Battle (July) - 45-year tradition, PRS qualifier and WyCO season match
- •Pikes Peak Rimfire Revival (March) - PRS Rimfire Regional, 50-300 yard targets
- •Tactical Holiday Follies (December) - Fast-paced match with three divisions
- •Hawkins Tag Team Match (August) - 2-shooter teams with bolt guns, gas guns, and pistol stages
Rifle Requirements & Rules
Allowed Cartridges:
- •Small to medium rifle cartridges only
- •3,200 FPS velocity limit
- •No magnum cartridges
- •No tracer or steel core ammo
Safety Requirements:
- •Magazine out, bolt back while handling on line
- •Bolts open and finger off trigger when negotiating obstacles
- •Firearms only handled on firing line or moving to/from it
- •Mandatory participation in spotting, scoring, timer operation, and brass management
Gear You Actually Need
Minimum Setup:
- •Rifle capable of 1 MOA or better accuracy
- •Adjustable bipod
- •Match-grade ammunition
- •Rear bag
- •DOPE (Data On Previous Engagements) for your rifle or ballistic solver
Pro Setup (What Experienced Shooters Use):
- •10+ round magazines
- •Rear/barricade bag (WieBad Fortune Cookie, AG Game Changer)

- •Precision rifle scope with FFP reticle and tactical turrets

Loaner Rifle Program Available — Not sure if competitive shooting is for you? Pikes Peak offers one loaner rifle per match, fully outfitted with Lone Peak action, Foundation stock, Element Optics Theos scope, Bartlein barrel, TriggerTech Rough Diamond trigger, and Thunderbeast bipod.
PRS Regional Series
Pikes Peak participates in the PRS Rocky Mountain Region competition series. You don't need a PRS account to shoot matches, but creating one lets your scores track regionally. Shooters can compete against others in the region and qualify for the Rocky Mountain Regional Finale.

Pikes Peak runs matches for shooters at all levels. Beginners get special programming like Fresh Face Frenzy with coaching support and eased difficulty. Experienced competitors can test themselves in sanctioned PRS Regional matches that feed into qualification events.
The organization emphasizes community—other shooters will let you borrow gear, help with brass, and teach you how to work the different props and barricades. If you're new to precision rifle competition, Pikes Peak's train-up events and loaner program remove the typical barriers to entry.
