BAY 1: Biathlon

Biathlon at Routt County Rifle Club mixes cross-country running or skiing with precision rifle shooting—a legitimate test of how well you shoot when your heart's already pounding from exertion. This is intermediate-level work, not a casual range day.

You alternate between moving hard and settling into the rifle to hit targets. Miss, and you pay for it with penalty time or extra laps. It's the kind of event that exposes gaps between bench shooting and real performance, which is why serious shooters use it to sharpen both their conditioning and trigger control.
