Own A. B. Bradshaw Engraving?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
A. B. Bradshaw is a Federal Firearms Licensed master engraver working in Toronto, Ontario. Bruce doesn't do gunsmithing, blueing, or stockmaking—he focuses exclusively on engraving, keeping the craft at the highest level.
Bruce started in 1967 as an apprentice to master engraver Harry Markwardt, learning the old-school way: pencil and paper for months before touching a real tool. He went on to study copperplate work, worked in London with Paul Roberts at John Rigby & Co., and has spent decades perfecting his craft.
"Send it out of the shop better than it came in." - His teacher's philosophy, still followed today.
Like the great masters he studied—Durer, Blake, Bewick—Bruce makes his own tools in the time-honoured tradition passed down through centuries of trade engravers.
Firearms & Shotguns: - All long guns and pistols (restoration, upgrades, original work) - Factory-pattern reproductions for Browning, Krieghoff, Winchester, Parker, Fox, Colt - Deep-carved scenes (a specialty) - Gold and platinum inlays, raised relief initials, wildlife designs - Purdey, Holland & Holland, Rigby, and other fine gun restorations
Beyond Firearms: - Cars and motorcycle parts in full scroll - Copperplate engraved prints in classical banknote style - Heraldry and custom artwork
Bruce's work appears on rifles from Kenny Jarrett (precision rifles), Leslie A. Paul (British master gunsmith), M. K. Owen (River City Rifle Company), and numerous gunsmiths and private collectors nationwide.
Bruce is one of the few artists still working in classical copperplate engraving style—the same techniques used for historical banknotes.
