Lancaster Family Hunting

Lancaster Family Hunting operates out of base camps in Nahanni Butte and June Lake in the Northwest Territories, running remote backpack hunts across some of Canada's most pristine mountain country. Founded by Jim and Nadine Lancaster, the operation has built a reputation for consistent success and trophy quality across four primary species.

Clients arrive at base camp—equipped with comfortable cabins, shower/laundry facilities, and walk-in coolers—for a pre-hunt briefing and home-cooked meal. From there, helicopter access puts hunters into fly camps across remote territories, typically spending 1-7 days pursuing their primary species. All guides carry inreach or satellite communications for daily contact with basecamp.

• •Dall Sheep — Since 1997, they've maintained an average age of 10-11 years on harvested rams through strict management. Their Mackenzie Mountains concessions have high sheep density and never-hunted ranges. Rifle hunts average 98% success; they also take archery hunters.

• •Alaska-Yukon Moose — The Keel, Natla, and Nahanni drainages consistently produce bulls averaging 60" wide with scores of 200-220". Rifle clients have seen 100% success. The operation butchers and processes meat on-site in their cooler facilities.

• •Mountain Caribou — High-altitude helicopter hunts produce bulls averaging 380", with many over 400" harvested annually. Success rates are consistently high whether booked as a single species or add-on hunt.

• •Mountain Goat — Their Ragged Range hunts in the NWT are among the only helicopter-access backpack goat hunts in the world. Long-term success rate is 100%.
