Full description and what we offer
Newtown Fish and Game Club operates as a member-supported organization dedicated to trout fishing and upland game hunting in Western Connecticut. The club owns 160 acres and leases over 1,000 additional acres, providing diverse hunting and fishing opportunities.
The centerpiece is a 125-acre spring-fed lake with regular trout stockings throughout the year, including special releases for ice fishing. Members can fish from shore or launch small boats—electric motors only, no gasoline engines. The club maintains boat storage and a launch facility, plus a pavilion for family gatherings.
Pheasant hunting is the main focus: the club stocks 2,000+ birds per season across properties, with regular stockings twice weekly during season. A special winter extension is available. Deer and turkey hunting also available on club property.
"Special emphasis is directed toward fostering the involvement of youth in these sports."
The club maintains a dog training area and hosts an annual game dinner and raffle. Members participate in property improvements and maintenance through volunteer work hours.
Membership is open to qualified applicants. General meetings held monthly at Edmund Town Hall in Newtown.
