Tek Arms traces back to 1984 when Mark Matheny started TEK Industries as an engineering and contract manufacturing firm. Matheny, an electrical engineer specializing in R&D, earned multiple awards for work in defense, medical, security, and firearms sectors. In 1994, the U.S. Small Business Administration named him Connecticut's Small Business Person of the Year—an honor recognized by President Clinton at the White House. He also received Connecticut's Governor's Award for Exporting in 1995.
In 2014, Matheny and his daughter Alaina revived the firearms side as TEK Arms, combining his decades of engineering expertise with her business experience across civilian and government sectors. The company operates 100% in the U.S. and holds CAGE Code 76DF8 for government contracting.
