Location details and information
Andover Sportsman's Club sits on rural Connecticut land with enough space to run multiple disciplines simultaneously. They're not cramped—they've got room to work.
Trap & Skeet - Five state-of-the-art trap houses - Brand new skeet field - Fall, Winter, and Summer leagues (each about 14 weeks) - Handicap and wobble trap in summer - Olympic trap available for qualified members
Rifle & Pistol - 100-yard rifle range (minimum 50-yard shooting distance) - Covered facilities for weather protection - Upper pistol range with 3 separate bays redesigned in 2021 - Dedicated steel target bay with specific safety protocols - Rifle/pistol leagues running fall, winter, and spring - Open shooting seven days a week, 9 AM to dusk for members
Sporting Clays - Mixed-terrain course: open field, wooded, and brush stations - Scaled for novice through experienced shooters - Events late spring through late fall
3D Archery - 30-target action course carved into the property - Realistic game animal targets with distance-judging challenges - Scoring system rewards accuracy and shot placement
They host NRA Basic Pistol courses (one-day, open to public) taught by certified instructors. Also offer Connecticut Hunter Safety Training and Conservation Education/Firearms Safety courses through the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Wildlife Division.
Safety is paramount at ASC. They operate by the four primary rules: treat every gun as loaded, always point the muzzle in a safe direction, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, and know your target and what's beyond.
Full membership sits around 500 with a typical one-year waitlist. Andover residents can apply without sponsorship; non-residents need a current member sponsor. Most membership invitations go out in winter/early spring.
Non-members can access many public events throughout the year—a good way to meet people and explore before joining.
Sunday trap shoots include breakfast from 8–10 AM. Fall league ends with a pizza party and awards ceremony just before Christmas.
