Full description and what we offer
Muddy Bottom Outfitters operates on a philosophy that runs counter to most outfitters: less is better. Owner Chris Bowden built MBO in 2011 around the idea that crowded camps kill hunts. Instead of running maximum capacity, they intentionally limit clients each season to maintain hunting pressure at a minimum.
"Show up as a customer - leave feeling like family."
Sika hunting is what MBO is known for on the Eastern Shore. They manage multiple privately owned properties across lower Maryland with diverse terrain—crop land, marshes, pine thickets, and mature timber—all heavily monitored for wildlife.
Hunters can choose between traditional tree-stand/blind hunting or fully guided 1x1 and 2x1 hunts that involve spotting, stalking, and calling during the rut. Only 4-point or better stags are harvested; no hinds allowed unless discussed.
2026-27 Sika Rates:

They manage multiple Eastern Shore properties strictly for whitetail and wild turkey hunting. Chris emphasizes real woodsmanship and calling—not pressure and volume. Their spring turkey guides are known for patience, old-school technique, and exceptional calling ability. Limited availability means clients actually get solo or small group experiences.
Osceola turkey hunts run through MBO with Chris and his guides. Maximum 12 hunters per season. $3,400 per person, includes basic lodging and meals. 2026 is fully booked; now booking 2027 and 2028.
Chris runs the Crazies Camp for Montana Trophy Outfitters (MTO) during archery and rifle seasons. Archery elk hunting starts at $9,750 USD. His track record: 2/3 on arrows released in archery season, 2/2 on bulls harvested in regular firearm season for the 2025 season.
Montana Trophy Outfitters holds a special place with Chris—ask specifically about Crazies Camp availability and guided opportunities.
Chris Bowden started MBO chasing a childhood dream after graduating. He's guided well-known figures throughout the U.S. and now runs the operation with wife Jocelyn (cooking, logistics). Their three kids are part of the business.
