Barrel and Hatchet

Barrel and Hatchet Trade Group LLC was founded in 2020 by Christopher Eric Roscher, a 15-year Air Force Special Warfare combat veteran who served as a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) from 2008 to 2019. After deployments to Afghanistan in 2010–2011 and 2012, Roscher transitioned to civilian instruction in 2018, later serving as Head Range Officer and Lead Shooting Instructor at JTAC Ranch before launching Barrel and Hatchet.

Barrel and Hatchet offers a tiered training system where most courses come in ALPHA (prerequisite) and BRAVO (advanced) levels. Their class roster includes:

Barrel and Hatchet's night vision courses are their signature offering. The ALPHA course ($285) covers zeroing equipment, field of view limitations, basic firearm handling under NVG, obstacle navigation, gear access by touch and feel, camouflage techniques, and formation movement. BRAVO builds on Alpha prerequisites and advances complexity.

They've partnered with Advanced Night Vision LLC to offer rental equipment—eliminating the 6-figure investment barrier. The GHOST Fighter Package rental ($189) includes: - PVS 14 Night Vision Monocular with RHINO mount - Team Wendy Bump Helmet - AR15 upper with IR Laser, IR Flood, White Light

• •Important restrictions: Reloaded ammunition prohibited. War Sport LVOA models, Lantac Dragon muzzles, and compensator-style devices not allowed due to muzzle flash damage to NVG equipment.

A full-day rifle fundamentals class covering carries, sling manipulation, reloads, malfunction clearances, and barricade shooting. Students bring their own semi-automatic rifle, minimum 200 rounds, 4 magazines, hearing/eye protection, two-point sling, and optic (iron sights, LPVO, red dot, or PRISM like ACOG). Range fees: $40 cash. Instructors provide tape, shot timers, steel targets, paint, and targets.

Christopher Eric Roscher – Founder, owner, lead instructor. Air Force Special Warfare veteran. 8 years instructing military and civilian curriculum. Philosophy: "professional student" mentality—always learning the craft. Paul Rosales – U.S. Air Force veteran, 14+ years in force protection and combat arms. Brings operational experience and student-first teaching approach. Also instructs at Bone Valley Range. Firearms instructor and Director of Marketing.

Erin Butler – Instructor, videographer, and podcast co-host. Competitive shooter (gas gun, IDPA, USPSA, concealed carry). Seven years fostering children; 12+ years diesel technician. Emphasizes fundamentals and informed decision-making.
