Full description and what we offer
Duke Defense is a firearms training operation founded by Brady Duke, who spent a decade in the Navy SEAL Teams followed by years instructing tactics for military, law enforcement, and government agencies. That background shows up directly in the curriculum: courses cover the fundamentals that matter in real situations, not range performance theater.
Duke Defense runs four core courses at $225 per half-day session, plus private instruction:
| Course | Focus | Prerequisite |
|---|---|---|
| Pistol 1 | Foundation: safety, drawing, clearing, shooting fundamentals, fighting mindset | None |
| Pistol 2 | Dynamic skills: target transitions, movement, angles, cover/concealment | Pistol 1 |
| Rifle 1 | AR foundation: setup, rapid acquisition, ready positions, malfunction drills | None |
| Rifle 2 | Movement and angles with rifle, recoil management, timed drills | Rifle 1 |
| Mama Bear Defense | Pistol fundamentals + concealed carry + active threat response for women | None |
| Private Sessions | Custom instruction | $449 |
Progression matters here. Pistol 2 and Rifle 2 require completion of their Level 1 counterparts. This isn't arbitrary—the courses build real skill in sequence.
All courses cover safety and range etiquette, but go beyond basics. You'll work on:
The Mama Bear Defense course specifically addresses concealed carry logistics and responding to violent encounters—designed for women regardless of prior firearm experience.
You bring your own firearms and equipment. For pistol courses: quality semi-auto, quality holster with retention, shooting belt, 3 mags, 2 pouches, 250 rounds. For rifle: AR platform, red dot or 1x scope, sling, 3+ mags, 2 pouches, 250 rounds. All students need eye and ear protection.
Contact Duke Defense through their website to request dates. They ask for three preferred dates and will coordinate around availability. Group sizes run 5-15 people per session.
