Ocean Reef Rod & Gun Club was incorporated as a 501(c)(7) nonprofit in February 1997 with four founders and a clear mission: create something different from typical club offerings. Today the club has over 500 members, all Ocean Reef residents.

Membership runs $350 annually (billed to your ORC account, auto-renews unless cancelled). Here's what's included:

• •Card Sound Sporting Clays access – The club's own clay target facility, 11 miles from Ocean Reef's front gate
• •Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays – All three disciplines available
• •Kids' Air Gun Range – Dedicated pellet target range for younger shooters
• •Fishing and shooting trips – Organized outings throughout the season
• •Tournaments and competitions – Fish of the Month contests (December–August), holiday fishing tournaments, quail hunts to Lightsey Family Ranch
• •Seminars and guest lectures – How-to events and presentations at the ORC Cultural Center
• •Vendor discounts – MarineMax and Orvis partnerships
• •Social events – Dinners, cocktail parties, fundraisers

No reservations required. The club also prohibits concealed or open carry on range grounds. A full fee schedule is available on their website.

The club doesn't just shoot and fish—they fund environmental work. Member participation has generated donations to:

• •Bonefish and Tarpon Trust – Research with University of Miami's Rosenstiel School
• •Mote Marine Laboratory – Sea urchin restoration project for healthy reefs
• •South Florida National Parks Trust – Flats and channel markers in Florida Bay and Everglades National Park
• •Guides Trust Foundation – Financial assistance for Florida Keys fishing guides
• •Islamorada Fishing and Conservation Trust – Youth fishing in the Upper Keys
• •Coral Restoration Foundation – Offshore coral nurseries and reef restoration
• •Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) – Marine ecosystem education
• •Wildlife Foundation of Florida, Everglades Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association – Broader ecosystem and access protection

The club installed and maintains flats markers throughout the region—a tangible, ongoing conservation commitment.

Beyond the everyday range, the club runs:

• •Holiday Fishing Tournament – One-day team event (December)
