Full description and what to expect
Advanced is a word I seldom use with firearms, as there is no such thing as an advanced shooting program - everything is fundamentals. Advanced Reactive Handgun is no different - it is still just the fundamentals. However, this 9 hour class is based on the principles of human response time as developed by Bill Rogers and the Rogers Shooting School, and will utilize a time controlled target. It is fast paced and high round count, with a heavy emphasis on one handed shooting. The student will be expected to be proficient in the basic operation of their weapon and be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic firearms safety. Class size is limited to five (5) students.
This course will cover the following
Principles of reactive shooting
Proper grip and stance
Trigger control and sight management
Recoil management
Multiple targets
Presentations and reloads
Firearm and equipment selection
The student will need the following
Heavy duty handgun
500 rounds of practice ammunition (round counts can be adjusted as needed)
Three magazines or speedloaders minimum
Belt mounted holster - outside or inside waistband (no pocket, ankle, or shoulder holsters)
Gun belt and magazine / speedloader pouch
Cover garment (closed or open front)
Hearing and wrap around eye protection
Hat, sunscreen, and full coverage shirts and shoes (no tank tops, low cut shirts, sandals or flip flops)
Rain gear for inclement weather
Med kit/ IFAK if available
A service size handgun in 9mm caliber or larger is recommended.
