Reactive Handgun Fundamentals is a comprehensive 9 hour course designed to expose the student to the fundamentals of fighting with a handgun. It is a beginning level course but the student will be expected to be proficient in the basic operation of their weapon and be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic firearms safety. This course meets and exceeds the requirements to obtain a Florida Concealed Weapons Permit.
This course will cover the following
Proper grip and stance
Trigger control and sight management
Standard and non-standard response
Multiple targets and tactical order of engagement
The five step presentation
Tactical and speed reloads
Level 1 and 2 malfunction clearance
Pivots and turns
Lateral movement
Forward and rearward movement
Situational awareness and conflict avoidance
Picture
The student will need the following
Heavy duty handgun
400 rounds of practice ammunition (round counts can be adjusted as needed)
Three magazines or speedloaders
Strong side holster, gun belt, and magazine / speedloader pouch
Hearing and wrap around eye protection
Hat, sunscreen, and full coverage shirts and shoes (no tank tops, low cut shirts, sandals or flip flops)
Knee and elbow pads are optional
Rain gear for inclement weather
Students should bring the weapon and holster that they actually use for self defense. A service size handgun in 9mm caliber or larger is recommended.
