CR2 Shooting Solutions was founded in 2020 by Christopher Roberts and Christopher Rance, two instructors from the U.S. Army Sniper Course. Between 2017 and 2020, they spent three years modernizing the Army's sniper program—updating TC 3-22.10 (the Sniper Manual), writing new doctrine, and advocating for equipment adoption including the Precision Sniper Rifle MK22, Leupold MK5hd optics, Really Right Stuff tripods, and B5 Systems upgrades.
When COVID hit in 2020, they pivoted to bring that same military-grade instruction to civilians. The result: a training company that doesn't water down the curriculum or cut corners on instructor-to-student ratios.
CR2 offers three core training tracks:
All courses use commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology: ballistic solvers, night vision, thermal imaging, laser rangefinders, and commercial drones. Courses run at various venues including Steel City Precision and Pig River Precision.
Key Differentiator: Students can bring their own rifles. CR2 actually helps you shoot YOUR gun better, not force you into their rental inventory. They also loan equipment if your gun goes down mid-course.
Headquartered at 2357 Warm Springs Rd., #197, Columbus, GA 31904, CR2 sits minutes from Fort Moore (home to the U.S. Army's Maneuver Center of Excellence and Ranger Regiment). This geography matters—it keeps them plugged into what the military is actually doing, and they bring in guest instructors who are active Army veterans, Sniper School instructors, and doctrine writers.
CR2 has become known in the precision rifle community for rigorous rangefinder testing and education. They've published detailed comparisons of gear like:
They run the Laser Rangefinder Employment Course on HideTV, teaching shooters how to maximize even budget rangefinders by understanding beam divergence, ranging techniques (ranging the base, using TRPs, tripod stabilization), and proper device setup.
"It's not just about the tools you have—it's about how well you use them." — CR2 on equipment employment
Beyond civilian training, CR2 provides Capability Development Consulting to Department of Defense leadership and defense contractors. Their work includes:
They operate through Federal Contracting, GPC, and traditional retail channels.
CR2 stocks tactical and precision rifle gear from top manufacturers:
Customer feedback consistently mentions they don't just push inventory—they test products themselves, know the reps, and give honest recommendations.
CR2 participates in the Mammoth Sniper Challenge, a grueling multi-stage competition that tests gear and shooter capability. This real-world proving ground generates detailed performance data they share via their YouTube channel, including rangefinder limitation videos and tactical equipment deployment demonstrations.
