Kevin DeMichiel grew up hunting and fishing in South Georgia, introduced to shooting by his father at a young age. After his father passed away in 2009, Kevin committed himself to becoming an advocate for outdoor sports and passing the tradition to younger generations.
His competitive journey started in 1997 when a friend brought him to a local skeet range. Within a year, he joined the NSCA and shot 400-500 registered targets. By 2004, he'd earned his AA Class ranking, and in 2005 punched into Master Class—a level that requires serious dedication, consistent practice, and willingness to learn from mistakes.
Kevin offers private shooting instruction for competitive and recreational shooters. His teaching philosophy is straightforward: keep fundamentals simple, stay focused on what works, and remember you're supposed to be having fun while you shoot.
Regular Competition Schedule - Practices Wednesday afternoons at his local club's "Skeet and Eat" 50-target tournament - Shoots Saturday and Sunday at tournaments or practice rounds - Competes in NSCA-sanctioned events throughout Georgia
Kevin shoots a Krieghoff K-80 ProSporter Parcour Special Grade with Pure Gold chokes and Bornaghi ammunition. He's found that keeping a gun in your hands as much as possible—and staying familiar with that specific firearm—is one of the keys to success in sporting clays.
Key to improving: Kevin emphasizes that competitive success requires the desire and perseverance to practice often, learn from misses, and compete seriously at higher levels.
