Josiah Ching is a Molokai native and six-year Army Scout veteran who returned home to build Bucks & Bones Outfitters on his family's legacy. His father, Clay Ching, ran Hallelujah Hou Fishing. Josiah specializes in sight-casting for Hawaiian Bonefish ('Ō'io), some of the largest in the world. Trips run 4-6 hours (longer if conditions allow) on shallow water flats with heavy emphasis on sight casting.

What You'll Fish With: - 8-9 weight fly rods (Josiah provides top-quality gear, but bring your own if preferred) - Flies provided or bring your selection - Spin/light tackle option: 7'6" fast action rod + 4K-5K reel with 15-20lb braid for jig head and lure work

Trip Basics: - All fishing is catch-and-release only (sustainability focus) - Complimentary drinks and light refreshments included - Lunch available on request - Polarized sunglasses essential (brown, copper, or amber lenses) - Wind is constant—practice your double haul cast; 20'-60' accuracy preferred

Bucks & Bones hunts Hawaiian Axis Deer in partnership with Pu'u O Hoku Ranch—a family-owned biodynamic and organic operation covering 14,000 acres on Molokai's remote east end. The ranch specializes in managing invasive deer populations while providing some of the largest trophy bucks in Hawaii.

Hunt Structure: - Year-round availability - Peak rut: June–July (best window) - Morning and evening hunts - Both rifle and archery-guided hunts available - Firearm rentals on site

Licensing: Hawaii hunting licenses required (obtained online by hunter). Mokulele Airlines is the primary public transport to Molokai; helicopter access to Pu'u O Hoku available for additional cost.

Diverse Fish Species: Molokai hosts Giant Trevally, Bonefish, and seasonal reef species depending on location and time of year. Josiah helps plan optimal timing based on conditions.
